Christmas 2011

This year was another year away from family. I think it gets harder and harder each year.  The girls had the 23 through the 3 off which was great.  I liked that they didn't have alot of time off before christmas and then a good week after.  They were bussing with excitement. Trying to keep them busy with activites was all I could do to keep them out of wanting to open all the presents family had sent.  We were very lucky and  family in our Ward invited us over on Christmas Eve for dinner and to play out the nativity with their kids.  The kids had so much fun and it was nice to get to know a new family.  Christmas morning seemed to come and go so fast.  The kids woke up early and we were off opening presents and playing with toys.  After breakfast we got ready for Church.  It was so nice to have a nice program on Christ on Christmas morning.  After church we headed back home to play with toys and hang out with the Missionaries.  Sense we have FaceTime and Skye we were able to set up the Missionaries in different parts of the house to visit with their families.  It was a neat experience to hear and see their excitement of seeing and visiting with their families.  We then had a yummy dinner and then we were lucky and got to see our families on FaceTime.  It was so fun for me to see my whole family at my parents for Christmas. I could see and hear all the little ones running around and playing.  What a great time of year.

This is our puzzle for 2011.  Each year we put together a Christmas puzzle.  This year we went a little easier then last year.  The girls did a great job at helping us put it together.

                                                                         Christmas Morning
I love how excited the girls get as they open their presents especially McKenzie.
Lucky enjoying one of the treats out of his stocking.

McKenzie was so excited to see that she got the blue scooter she asked for.  She was very specific as to what she wanted.

Brooklyn with her Strawberry Shortcake Market.

We bought the girls American Girls Dolls when we went to the Mall of America in November.  The girls were very patient in waiting until Christmas to open them.  They were so excited.

McKenzie named her doll Elizabeth (Ellie for short)  Brooklyn named hers Kit

I worked long and hard for weeks to make these Cuddle quilts for the girls.  They loved them.  McKenzie was so cute and ran over and gave me a big hug.  I was so glad they liked them.  They were a lot of work.

The girls were so excited for the fun beads they got from Grandma and Grandpa Hansen.

The girls were also excited for the Pet Shop remote control cars from Grammy Lur and Pops.  They work out great on the large kitchen floor.

Brooklyn with all her Christmas Stuff.
McKenzie and all her Christmas Stuff.  I know our kids our spoiled.

Sense the kids were so spoiled this year we went light on ourselves.  I got Ryan a new spider beanie a CD and a fun Dr. Pepper can for in his truck.

First of all I hate Christmas morning pictures, but they must be taken.  Ryan got me a new lens for my camera, some clothes and a CD.

McKenzie hanging out with Elder Wilkes while they waited for dinner.

The girls and their Missionary buddies.  Oh and the Christmas mess all over the floor.

Christmas Goodies

It's time to make Christmas Goodies.  Instead of taking them around to neighbors we made a whole bunch and took two big platters to the Ward Christmas Party and the girls took some for their teachers.  I love making these treats every year and it is so fun when the girls help me out.  We didn't make all the treats we normally make, but we still had a lot of fun and enjoyed what we did make.

BFF = Best Friends Forever

I talked the girls into letting me take their pictures for the Christmas cards.  They were good sports and the pictures turned out cute.  Our girls are growing up so fast.  I'm so grateful they have each other.  This move has been hard on them, because there are not very many kids around us.  I have seen that they have become even closer to each other which is awesome.  I hope that this time of depending on each other helps them stay close to each other their whole lifes.  I love our beautiful little girls and I'm so gratefule we have them in our lifes.

Gingerbread House + Family Time

I love the holidays and I love all the traditions that come along with them.  Making Gingerbread House as a family is one of my favorites. The girls were pretty excited when we picked them up from the store and could hardly wait for us to make them.  We buddied up Ryan and McKenzie and Me and Brooklyn.   The Gingerbread House turned out awesome and tasted pretty good too.  The girls kept eating the candy and sucking the frosting out of the tube.  The joys of being kids.

McKenzie sneaking a little taste.

This was our half time show.  Our little cheerleaders and their goofy dad.
I just love how Ryan is standing in this one.  It makes me laugh every time I see it.

The Family finishing up our house.

The girls and the finished houses.  They turned out so cute.
