Our weekend in Yellowstone

Exploring more of Montana and Wyoming!
We headed off to West Yellowstone for a fun and much needed vacation. Ryan and I have not been to Yellowstone sense we were kids and didn't really remember much about the park. I remember seeing some animals, but not any close to the car and I also remember some of the hotpots, but it was really cool to see them again. I didn't know it the kids would like it or not, but they loved it. For all the driving we did they were very good. We drove over 20 hours in 5 days. The girls loved seeing all the animals every time we saw something they wanted us to pull over so they could get out of their seat belts and look through dad's new binoculars. They loved it. The first day in the park we thought they would fall asleep half way through, but McKenzie didn't want to sleep for fear she would miss something. We saw ton's of Elk and Bison a few coyote's, lot's of birds, and a Black Bear. I wish the Black Bear would have been closer, because the girls couldn't really see it and we couldn't take any pictures of it. I broke the trip down by days, so this is day one. We headed into the park about 11:00 in the morning, it was overcast all day and cold, but we bundled up and had fun regardless. We hope you enjoy all the pictures. We had a blast.

This is the WorldMark resort we stayed at.

This was our few we woke up to every morning from our balcony. One morning we saw a coyote walking right in front of all the pine trees.

This was the first set of Elk we saw. We were so excited to see some not knowing we would see ton's more and even closer to the car.

We saw Bison everywhere. I loved how they would walk right through all the steam from the hot pots.

We saw guys fishing all through the park. Every time we saw some fishermen I thought about my dad and brother's and how much they would have loved it.

This picture makes me think of the boys all spread out down the river fishing.

The cold weather made the steam off the hot pots look really cool as we drove through the parks. There were a few times that it seemed like we were driving through fog.

These are some of the pots from the Lower Geyser Basin

These are some of the hot pots we saw on Geyser hill while we waited for Old Faithful to go off.

It was so cool how clear and blue the water was.

Me and My girls.

This is called the Heart Spring

We missed Old Faithful going off, so we had to wait over and hour until it went off again. The girls were pretty patient. It was pretty cool when it finally went off. It lasted about 5 minutes.

On our way back to the resort, Brooklyn had fallen asleep, but McKenzie still wanted us to stop for all the animals we saw. Ryan thought it would be cool to take he up for a closer look. I was being good and keeping quiet, but freaking out inside. McKenzie thought it was the coolest thing ever.

There was a pack of wolves close by and you could see that these Elk were watching their every move.

If you see in this picture all of the Elk's heads are looking to the left, that's were the pack of wolves were back in the trees.
