A Cold Day In Montana

What does 30 below feel like?
~ You can get frost bite within 10 minutes of being outside.
~ It hurts to breath.
~ Your skin is so dry it cracks.
~ Your car is so cold it won't start.
~ You have to bundle up as if you were going sledding just to go to the store.
~You have to learn to drive on snow and ice packed streets.
~Everything around you is frozen.
Yes we are freezing up here in Montana.
This last week has been a cold one. We had two days this week were the high was -10 and the low -30. On Wednesday it was such a beautiful day I couldn't resist going outside to take some pictures of the river. I decided to wait until after lunch hoping that it would be a little warmer, but it was still -15 when I took all of these pictures. The girls and I bundled up and off we went. McKenzie thought it was awesome and Brooklyn took a much needed nap, while mom jumped in and out of the car at each stop along the river. It was worth it, because the next day it was overcast and has been sense. I hope you enjoy our winter wonderland.
This is a picture of the Black Eagle Falls
This is the river just down from the falls
As you can see the river is still moving even though it's half frozen. I just love the steam coming off the river. It's so beautiful up here.
More of Black Eagle Falls
Yes all that white is the river.
I never thought we would see the river covered in snow and ice like this. Crazy!

Brrr.... that makes me cold! I am cold here in our weather and it's only in the 30's.....But really pretty up there! The pics are all cute that you posted. Your Christmas card is cute too! It will be so fun looking back years from now and seeing all the cool pictures and fun experiences you are able to have with your own family! Lainee loves to look at your girls pictures and say their names! I just wish my kids would talk on the phone....

Oh, and I wish I was there to taste your candy you made! You were always good at making that kind of stuff.... I am going to attempt to make fudge this year... we'll see how that turns out!
